Our Care

OUR PRIMARY FOCUS

Occupational engagement is the change agent. Occupational engagement leads to optimal performance in essential skills.

All our Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Teachers are well-trained in the use of occupations to promote Regulation of emotions, behaviours and thoughts, Organization of actions and time and Motivation to persevere at and complete tasks with the primary focus of ultimately achieving Occupational engagement.

A comprehensive understanding of the person (i.e. child’s qualities and abilities) coupled with the appropriate choice of occupations and a conducive environment are all essential to ensure the effectiveness of our ROM strategies. Overtime, consistent incorporation of Occupational Engagement into the child’s routine which then becomes part of the child’s habits. It is important for Occupational Engagement to be habituated (i.e. part of the child’s habits) so that the component skills become automatic and mastered over time.

This will then lead to the eventual goal of Optimal Performance of essential skills.
